The Eastern Michigan Eagles and the Northern Illinois Huskies meet Friday in college basketball action from NIU Convocation Center. Eastern Michigan is sitting at 8-22 overall and lost to Bowling Green on Tuesday in their last game. As for Northern Illinois, they’re 12-18 overall following a Tuesday loss to Buffalo. Eastern Michigan Eagles

Eastern Michigan managed to go a rough 6-16 over their first 22 games of the year. The Eagles are just 2-6 since then with losses to Ball State, Buffalo, Toledo, Akron, Kent State and Bowling Green alongside wins over Western Michigan and Ball State.

In the Bowling Green game on Tuesday, Eastern Michigan was within four points 35-31 at halftime. The Eagles were drilled 53-37 from there and lost 88-68, however. Orlando Lovejoy put up 15 points with three rebounds in the defeat.

Northern Illinois Huskies

Over on the Northern Illinois side, they were only 9-13 in their first 22 outings of the year. The Huskies have managed a 3-5 stretch in their last eight with losses to Ohio, Ball State, Miami-OH, Ohio again and Buffalo.

Matched up against Buffalo on Tuesday, the Huskies fell behind 42-26 after one half. Northern Illinois got better from there on a 49-43 run but still lost 85-75. Darweshi Hunter and David Colt each scored a team-high 18 points.

I’ll probably stay with Northern Illinois in this one. The Huskies didn’t play particularly well against an average Buffalo team at home back on Tuesday, and they’ve got just one win in the last five games. That said, the last time these teams met up back on January 21, NIU managed an 88-67 blowout win at EMU Convocation Center, jumping out to a 50-31 halftime edge and cruising the rest of the way. This one’s probably not going to be so lopsided but I still think the Huskies can pull it off.
