Northern Illinois vs Western Michigan Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/11/23

Western Michigan Broncos 

Western Michigan got off to a rough start this season, going just 5-11 over their first 16 games. The Broncos are just 1-7 since then with losses to Ball State, Akron, Ohio, Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, Buffalo and Miami-OH in their last seven. 

On Tuesday versus Miami-OH, the Broncos were down 43-40 going into the second half. Western Michigan posted a 42-38 deficit from there and lost 85-78. Seth Hubbard was the top team scorer on 20 points and two rebounds. 

Northern Illinois Huskies

Over on the Northern Illinois side, they were an ugly 5-11 at the 16-game mark this year as well. The Huskies have improved since then on a 5-3 stretch with wins over Miami-OH, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Western Michigan and Bowling Green, however. 

Matched up against Ohio on Tuesday, the Huskies were down 46-39 at the break. Northern Illinois hit a 37-36 advantage from there in an 82-76 loss. Kaleb Thornton was the lead team scorer on 21 points and eight assists.

I’m going to stay with Northern Illinois. The Huskies have been playing better over the last seven games, going 5-2 in that time with 69 or more points in all seven outings. The last time these teams met up back on January 31 at University Arena, Northern Illinois posted a dominant 73-59 win thanks to a 36-24 first-half run. The Huskies have lost three of their last four home games but should match up well here. I think NIU will power out a cover.
