The Islanders would take out Schreiner, SE Louisiana,, New Orleans, UT Rio Grande Valley, Northwestern Stat,e and Incarnate Word in the next six before a loss to Houston Christian. Texas A&M-CC went 4-6 over their next 10 outings, beating Nicholls, East Texas A&M, Incarnate Word, and Houston Christian along with losses to McNeese, UT Rio Grande Valley, Stephen F. Austin, Lamar, McNeese, and Nicholls. The last three games have all been wins though, as the Isles have dispatched SE Louisiana, New Orleans, and Houston Christian in succession. That gives Texas A&M-CC a 20-13 overall run through 33 games this year.

On Saturday versus Houston Christian, the Islanders scored 34 points in the first half on the way to a 62-48 win. Garry Clark doubled up on 22 points with 11 rebounds in the victory.

Northwestern State Demons Betting Preview

Over on the Demons’ side, they had a shaky run going for most of the year but have since been able to pull back to the .500 mark with a nice stretch lately. Northwestern State went 7-10 over their first 17 outings of the season, taking losses to Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Rice, LA-Monroe, LSU, Cal, Texas, McNeese, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and SE Louisiana during that time. After consecutive wins over New Orleans and Stephen F. Austin, the Demons hit a 2-5 stretch with wins over UT Rio Grande Valley and Nicholls among losses to Lamar, East Texas A&M, McNeese, Stephen F. Austin, and Lamar again. Northwestern State has won their last four over New Orleans, SE Louisiana, Houston Christian, and Incarnate Word though, giving the team a 15-15 overall run across their first 30 appearances so far.

In the Incarnate Word matchup last Monday, the Demons went into the second half with a 37-26 lead. Northwestern State was able to maintain form from there on a 36-31 stretch and took the win in the end 73-57. Micah Thomas was the top team scorer with 19 points, three steals, and two rebounds. Jon Sanders led the bench scoring with 18 points, one assist, and three turnovers in 25 minutes of action. Also in double-figures during the win was Love Bettis with 12 points, five steals, and one rebound in 26 minutes out on the floor.

I’ll stick with the Demons. Probably staying away from this one, though. Northwestern State has at least been looking better over the last four outings, and they dispatched a middling Incarnate Word team without too much difficulty in their latest appearance. The Demons shot very well in that one: 51 percent from the field, 56.3 percent (9-of-16) from outside, and 85.7 percent (12-of-14) from the line. That said, Northwestern State did have 15 turnovers for 21 Cardinals points. The good news is that the Demons are scoring well over this 4-0 run, with 72 or more points in three of those outings.

These teams met back on January 13 in a 73-64 Islanders home win. Texas A&M-CC shot very well in that one (51.7 percent) and owned the boards 37-28. Northwestern State got sloppy on 10 turnovers as well, so they’ll need to watch the miscues this time. Should be a fun matchup overall, and a competitive one.
