Northwestern vs Prairie View A&M 12/11/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Prairie View A&M Panthers and the Northwestern Wildcats meet Sunday in college basketball action from Welsh-Ryan Arena. Prairie View is currently 4-4 on the year. The Panthers lost to Rice in their last outing. As for Northwestern, they’re 6-2 overall and beat Michigan State last weekend. Prairie View went 4-2 over their first six games this year, falling to TN-Martin and UTSA along the way (with wins over Kansas CC, North American, Washington State and Arkansas State). The Panthers have since lost to Oklahoma State and Rice in their last two games. 

In the Rice matchup, Prairie View took a 32-25 lead into halftime. The Panthers were outscored 45-30 in the second half however, and ended up losing 70-62. Tekorian Smith was the top team scorer on 19 points and three boards. 

Over on the Northwestern side, they beat Chicago State, Northern Illinois, Georgetown, Fort Wayne and Liberty before losses to Auburn and Pittsburgh. The Wildcats were able to rebound with a win over Michigan State last Sunday. 

In the matchup versus Michigan State, the Wildcats held a slim 38-37 edge by halftime. Northwestern hit a 32-26 run in the second and won 70-63. Boo Buie was tops in scoring with his 20 points and five rebounds. 

PICK: I’m going to stick with Northwestern. The Wildcats have been playing pretty well overall this year. They’re coming off a solid effort versus Michigan State, hitting 42.9 percent from the field and 21-of-24 (87.5 percent) from the line. Northwestern has been at 66 or fewer points in five of their eight outings this year, however they’ll likely post a nice total in this one. As for Prairie View, they’ve got some decent scoring outings in the books this year. The Panthers have given up 70 or more points in four of their last five games, though.
