In this article we will formulate a Northwestern vs Virginia prediction for this College Basketball game on Friday, November 21st at Colonial Hall in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this College Basketball matchup.

Northwestern Wildcats Betting Preview

The Northwestern Wildcats are 4-0 this season after they defeated DePaul by a score of 81-79 in their last game. Northwestern trailed 44-42 at halftime, but they scored 39 points in the second half to escape with the win. The Wildcats shot 58% from the field, 44% on three pointers, and 67% on free throws in the game. Nick Martinelli led NW with 24 points and five rebounds, while Arrinten Page added 22 points and five rebounds in the win.

Prior to that game, Northwestern defeated Cleveland State by a score of 110-63 and Boston University by a score of 76-52. The Wildcats have scored 84.3 points per game with 37.5 rebounds and 19.0 assists per game, while they have allowed 60.3 points against per game this season. Nick Martinelli is averaging 20.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, while Arrinten Page is averaging 16.0 points and 8.3 rebounds per game for the Wildcats. Northwestern is shooting 52.2% from the field, 69.1% on free throws, and 40% on three pointers this season.

Virginia Cavaliers Betting Preview

The Virginia Cavaliers are 4-0 this year after they defeated Marshall by a score of 104-78 in their last game. Virginia led 61-33 at halftime, but they were outscored 45-43 in the second half in the win. The Cavaliers shot 52% from the field, 43% on three pointers, and 72% on free throws in the game. Thijs De Ridder led UVA with 23 points and six rebounds, while Malik Thomas added 18 points and five rebounds in the win.

Prior to that game, Virginia defeated Hampton by a score of 91-53 and NC Central by a score of 81-62. The Cavaliers have scored 90.8 points per game with 46.0 rebounds and 19.0 assists per game, while they have allowed 61.5 points against per game this season. Thijs De Ridder is averaging 17.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, while Malik Thomas is averaging 12.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for the Cavaliers. Virginia is shooting 50% from the field, 66% on free throws, and 38.8% on three pointers this year.

Why the Northwestern Wildcats will win

  • Northwestern has won each of its last eight games against non-Conference opponents.
  • Virginia has lost five of its last six games played at neutral venues.
  • Northwestern has won the first half in each of its last seven day games against non-AP-ranked opponents.

Why the Virginia Cavaliers will win

  • Virginia has won each of its last five games against non-Conference opponents.
  • Northwestern has lost eight of its last 10 day games.
  • Virginia has won the first half in each of its last six games against non-Conference opponents.

Total Points Facts

  • Each of Virginia’s last 30 games against non-AP-ranked opponents at a neutral venue have produced a total of 143 or fewer points.
  • Each of Northwestern’s last 16 games at a neutral venue have produced a total of 142 or fewer points.

Northwestern vs Virginia Prediction

Both of these teams come into this matchup with a 4-0 record so far this season, but Virginia has been much more impressive. The Cavaliers are shooting 50% from the field and they have scored 87+ in three of the four games. Northwestern is shooting 52% from the field, but they barely escape against DePaul in their last game. The Wildcats allowed 79 to DePaul in that game and I don’t see them slowing down UVA here. Virginia has won all four of their games by at least 19 points and I think they pull away in the second half here.
