The Central Michigan Chippewas and the Ohio State Buckeyes meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Value City Arena. Central Michigan is currently 2-4 overall following a loss to Stetson last Tuesday. As for Ohio State, they improved to 5-1 on the year following a blowout win over Santa Clara this past weekend. Here’s our Central Michigan vs Ohio State prediction.
Central Michigan Chippewas
The Chippewas dropped their first three games in a row this year, however a couple of them were against pretty big schools in Oklahoma and Florida State. Central Michigan followed that up with wins over South Florida and Siena. In the win over the Saints 70-56, the Chippewas shot 48.1 percent from the field but got out-rebounded 31-25.
The Chippewas fell back into the loss column versus Stetson in their latest outing. Central Michigan went into the break down 37-24, then ended up falling 71-61. Leading the team in the losing effort was Brian Taylor on a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Ohio State Buckeyes
Over on the Buckeyes’ side, they’ve got just one blemish in the books so far: a 73-66 loss to Texas A&M. Ohio State otherwise took out Oakland, Merrimack, Western Michigan and Alabama in their first five outings. In the win over Alabama, the Buckeyes shot a nice 54 percent from the field and 55.6 percent from 3-point range with 28-of-30 (93.3 percent) from the line.
Ohio State kept it rolling in their last matchup versus Santa Clara. The Buckeyes scored a whopping 52 points in the second half to finish off the 86-56 blowout. Tops in scoring was Jamison Battle on 21 points. Bruce Thornton added 13 points with seven assists and five rebounds as well.
ANDREW’S FREE OHIO STATE VS CENTRAL MICHIGAN PREDICTION
I’ll probably just stick with Ohio State. Also probably not touching it. The Buckeyes should roll here without too much difficulty; the only question is margin of victory. Ohio State is coming off 52.4 percent shooting with 22 team assists and just seven turnovers against a pretty decent Santa Clara team in their latest blowout win. The Buckeyes have scored 73 or more points in every game so far and 86 or more in their last pair, so this should be another offensive onslaught.
As for Central Michigan, they posted 37.5 percent from the field and 6-of-28 (21.4 percent) from 3-point range versus Stetson in their last game. I don’t think the Chippewas will hang around for very long here.
