In their third outing of the year, the Panthers faced off against Central Michigan. Eastern Illinois was outscored 42-21 in the first half and limped to a 76-60 loss. Kinyon Hodges led the team with 10 options, and Kyle Thomas managed eight points.
Over on the Ohio State side, their year began with a matchup against Robert Morris. The Buckeyes scored 42 points in the first half and 49 more from there in a 91-53 win. Justice Sueing logged 20 points, and Zed Key doubled with 13 points and 10 boards.
Ohio State continued to roll in game two versus Charleston Southern. The Buckeyes were up 46-22 by the break and cruised to an 82-56 victory. Key doubled again with 17 points and 13 boards, while Brice Sensabaugh logged 14 points.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Ohio State, but the line's probably too thick to mess with. The Buckeyes have had two very manageable matchups so far, and they’ve taken care of business in both of them. Ohio State shot a nice 51.7 percent from the floor in the Charleston Southern game, bagging 47 rebounds along the way. Eastern Illinois hasn’t found much to build on through three games so far, and if Ohio State is shooting reasonably well the Buckeyes should have no problem covering—if they don’t take their foot off the proverbial gas pedal in the second half, that is.
