The IU Indy Jaguars come into the 2025-26 season looking to climb after a 10-22 mark in 2024-25, including a 6-14 record in Horizon League play. The Jaguars reached the conference tournament but were bounced in the first round, falling to Wright State. A new era begins in Indianapolis with Ben Howlett taking over on the bench, and the roster reflects that change with a lot of D-II transfersmost notably Kyler D’Augustino who had 17.3 PPG and 3.8 RPG at one guard spot and Finley Woodward who had 10.7 PPG, 4.7 RPG and 4.9 APG in the frontcourt alongside Aiden Miller who added 9.8 PPG and 9 RPG last season. Matt Compas added 18.6 PPG and 4.9 RPG at the NAIA level and Kameron Tinsley and Corey Boston also chipped in double-digit scoring averages at the D-II level. The Jaguars are hoping for a cleanse after the problems left behind in the brief Paul Corsaro era, but the signs are there that IU Indy can at least show some fight in 2025-26. 

Ohio State Buckeyes Recap

The Ohio State Buckeyes come into the 2025-26 season looking to bounce back from a 17-15 overall record and a 9-11 mark in Big Ten play in 2024-25. The Buckeyes did not earn an NCAA Tournament bid, falling short of expectations in Jake Diebler’s first year in Columbus. Senior guard Bruce Thornton is back after averaging 17.7 PPG, joined by junior forward Devin Royal and sophomore guard John Mobley Jr., both of whom are expected to shoulder bigger roles in Ohio State’s production this season. The Buckeyes also needed help up front and got it in the transfer portal, landing forward Brandon Noel from Wright State and 7-foot center Christoph Tilly from Santa Clara, along with 6-10 transfer Josh Ojianwuna from Baylor, but the key for Ojianwuna will be staying healthy as he’s been bitten by the injury bug in his short career.

I’m on Ohio State in this one. I just think this is a tough spot to feel good about for IU Indy as we really have no clue what this team is going to be in the Ben Howlett era. IU Indy was able to compete here and there, but we’re talking now about roster overhaul once again. Ohio State normally does well in these paycheck games against inferior opponents, and I think the Buckeyes get it done laying the wood.
