The Western Michigan Broncos and the Ohio Bobcats meet Saturday in college basketball action from Ohio University Convocation Center. Western Michigan is coming off a Thursday matchup versus Central Michigan. In that one, the Broncos lost by 10 points. As for Ohio, they played Eastern Michigan on Thursday. The Bobcats ended up winning by double-digits. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Western Michigan posted a 4-6 run in their first 10 games, but then hit a nasty losing skid. The Broncos fell to Notre Dame, Toledo, Ohio, Eastern Michigan, Buffalo, Miami OH, Akron, Bowling Green, Kent State, Ball State and Northern Illinois in the next 11 games.
In the Thursday matchup versus Central Michigan, the Broncos had a 28-24 lead heading into the break. Western Michigan was outscored 41-27 from there in a 65-55 loss. Lamar Norman was the top scorer with 18 points and two rebounds.
Over on the Ohio side, they’ve stayed very consistent this year and are yet to lose consecutive games. The Bobcats fell to only Kentucky, LSU and Toledo through their first 20 appearances. Ohio had a win streak over Northern Illinois, Buffalo and Ball State heading into Thursday’s game.
In the matchup versus Eastern Michigan, the Bobcats posted 44 points in the first half and 37 more in the second in a solid 81-68 victory. Mark Sears led the way on 20 points and six boards, while Jason Carter added 17 points and eight rebounds.
The Bobcats are 1-4 ATS in their last five at home and the over is 18-7-1 in their last 26 at home. The under is 4-1-1 in Ohio’s last six after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Broncos are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven road games and 0-4-1 ATS in their last five overall. The over is 8-2-1 in Western Michigan’s last 11 road games.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Ohio. That line is probably too thick to mess with, though. The Bobcats have been doing well over this 4-0 run; they’ve hit 74 or more points in each game and 81 or more points in their last pair. The last time these teams met up was back on New Year’s Day. The Bobcats came away with a 59-47 road victory in that one. I like this rematch to be a higher-scoring affair with Ohio powering out the cover to keep their streak rolling.
