The Kentucky Wildcats and the Oklahoma Sooners meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Lloyd Noble Center. Here’s an Oklahoma vs Kentucky prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Oklahoma vs Kentucky pick.

Kentucky Wildcats Betting Preview

The Wildcats kicked off the year on a pretty nice run, but they’ve been choppy since mid-January. Kentucky went 14-3 in their first 17 outings, taking losses to only Clemson, Ohio State, and Georgia along the way. Otherwise, it was wins over Wright State, Bucknell, Duke, Lipscomb, Jackson State, Western Kentucky, Georgia State, Gonzaga, Colgate, Louisville, Brown, Florida, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M. Since then it’s been a pretty rough 4-6 run over the last 10 games for the Wildcats. Those wins came courtesy of Tennessee, South Carolina, Tennessee again, and Vanderbilt. The losses otherwise were versus Alabama, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Texas, and Alabama. In total across the first 27 games of the 2024-25 campaign, the Wildcats have carved out an 18-9 overall record so far.

In the Alabama road rematch back on Saturday, the Wildcats came out of the break sporting a 47-40 deficit. Kentucky was outscored further from there on a 49-43 run and took the loss at the end 96-83. Leading the way in the defeat was Koby Brea with 20 points, two assists, and one rebound in 35 minutes of action. Amari Williams doubled up on 17 points with 11 rebounds, six assists, one steal, and one block, while Andrew Carr had 17 points with six boards, two assists, and two steals. Travis Perry was also in double-figures during the losing effort, chipping in 12 points with four steals, one rebound, and one assist in 28 minutes.

Oklahoma Sooners Betting Preview

Over on the Oklahoma side, they were perfect in early January, but they’ve struggled during the 2025 calendar year thus far. The Sooners took out Lindenwood, Northwestern State, Stetson, East Texas A&M, Providence, Arizona, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Alcorn State, Oklahoma State, Michigan, Central Arkansas, and Prairie View in their first 13 games. After losses to Alabama, Texas A&M, Georgia, and Texas, the Sooners went 3-1 with a loss to Texas A&M among wins over South Carolina, Arkansas, and Vanderbilt. Since then it’s been losses to Auburn, Tennessee, Missouri, LSU, and Florida ahead of a win versus Mississippi State. That gives Oklahoma a 17-10 overall run through their first 27 games of the 2024-25 campaign.

Matched up against Mississippi State on Saturday, the Sooners came out of the break with a 37-34 deficit. Oklahoma came back in the second half with a 59-50 run though, eventually taking a much-needed win 93-87 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Jeremiah Fears with 27 points and 10 assists for a double-double. Jalon Moore added 18 points with seven rebounds and two assists, while Sam Godwin added 17 points with 10 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks for a double-double of his own. Tops off the bench for Oklahoma was Kobe Elvis with nine points, three assists, and two rebounds in 28 minutes of work on the floor.

Why the Oklahoma Sooners will win

  • The home team has won each of Kentucky’s last six games.
  • Kentucky has lost each of its last four road games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
  • The home team has won the first half in five of Kentucky’s last six games.

Why the Kentucky Wildcats will win

  • Oklahoma has lost eight of its last nine night games against AP-ranked opponents.
  • Oklahoma has lost the first half in each of its last seven games against AP-ranked opponents.

Oklahoma vs Kentucky Prediction

I’ll take a stab at Oklahoma but you could argue this one either way. The Sooners are coming off a nice second half against a good Mississippi State team. Oklahoma eventually shot 52.7 percent from the field in the win with 11-of-26 (42.3 percent) from 3-point range. The 42-31 rebounding deficit didn’t help matters though, nor did the 11 turnovers for 18 Bulldogs points. Oklahoma had scored fewer than 64 points in three of their previous four games, so getting to that 70-point threshold and beyond should be a major priority for the team here.

As for Kentucky, they couldn’t keep pace with a great Alabama squad in their last loss, giving up 52.5 percent shooting from the field with a 39-35 rebounding deficit and 13 turnovers for 24 Tide points. The Wildcats should match up well with Oklahoma though, so this will be a fun game to check out.
