The Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Oklahoma Sooners meet Saturday in college basketball action from Lloyd Noble Center. Oklahoma State is coming off a loss to Houston that dropped the Cowboys to 10-13 overall this year. As for Oklahoma, they’re sitting at 17-6 overall after a win versus BYU on Tuesday. Oklahoma State Cowboys
The Cowboys didn’t start out the year too badly at 8-5, but they would then hit a losing streak versus Baylor, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and TCU. It’s been a 2-2 run since then with wins over West Virginia and Kansas State mixed with losses to Kansas and Houston.
Back on Tuesday versus Houston, the Cowboys were drilled 40-21 in the first half alone. Oklahoma State recovered with a 42-39 run in the second half but ended up losing 79-63. Javon Small topped the team on 18 points with five rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes.
Oklahoma Sooners
Over on the Sooners’ side, they posted a nice 15-3 run over their first 18 games this year. The only losses were to North Carolina, TCU and Kansas. Oklahoma is just 2-3 since then though, falling to Texas, Texas Tech and UCF with wins otherwise versus Kansas State and BYU during that time.
In their Tuesday matchup versus BYU, the Sooners started out a bit slowly with a 34-34 tie at halftime. Oklahoma hit a 48-32 run from there however, ultimately taking the win 82-66. Javian McCollum was tops in scoring with 20 points, two rebounds and one assist in the winning effort.

I’ll just stick with Oklahoma. The Sooners played quite well versus a good BYU team in their last outing. Oklahoma would finish with 49 percent shooting from the field, 34 rebounds, 12 team assists and just eight turnovers along the way to the victory. The Sooners have been below 73 points just once in the last four games—a 2-2 run.
As for Oklahoma State, they were no match for Houston in their last game—but few teams are this year. The Cowboys have been below 70 points in six of their last eight outings, however to be fair they’ve played some tough teams in that stretch. Still, I don’t think Oklahoma State will have the gas on offense to keep a cover pace here if the Sooners are playing well.
