The South Carolina Gamecocks and the Oklahoma Sooners meet Wednesday in SEC Tournament college basketball action from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Here’s an Oklahoma vs. South Carolina prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Oklahoma vs. South Carolina pick.
South Carolina Gamecocks Betting Preview
South Carolina was above the .500 mark at 11-8 back on January 20 and coming off a win over Oklahoma. After that, however, came losses to Texas A&M, Florida, LSU, Texas, Missouri, Alabama and Florida, then a win over Mississippi State. The Gamecocks lost to Kentucky, Georgia and Tennessee in the next trio, then beat Ole Miss for a 13-18 overall record this year.
In the Ole Miss game last weekend, the Gamecocks were up 34-28 going into the second half. South Carolina was outscored 33-30 the rest of the way but still managed to hang on for a 64-61 victory on the road as time ran out. Meechie Johnson was tops with 17 points and four boards, while both Nordin Kapic and Kobe Knox chipped in with 14 points apiece in the victory.
Oklahoma Sooners Betting Preview
Over on the Oklahoma side, they weren’t able to stay above .500 through their first 23 games, sitting on an 11-13 record. Wins over Vanderbilt and Georgia were followed by losses to Tennessee and Texas A&M, then a four-game win streak. Those victories have come courtesy of Auburn, LSU, Missouri and Texas. Over 31 games so far, that gives the Sooners a 17-14 record this season.
Matched up against Texas on Saturday, the Sooners were trailing by four points, 40-36, as they sat in the locker room at the break. Oklahoma came back on a 41-37 run in the second half and forced overtime. After the extra period, the Sooners came away with a nice win on the road, 88-85. Nijel Pack led the team with 23 points, five rebounds and two assists. Tae Davis added 14 points with nine boards.

Oklahoma vs South Carolina Prediction
I’ll take a stab at Oklahoma. The Sooners were able to power past Texas last weekend thanks to 44.3 percent shooting, a 36-31 rebounding advantage and 16 points off 12 Longhorns turnovers. Oklahoma was pretty solid in the paint with a 26-22 advantage and held Texas to just 41 percent shooting on defense. The Sooners have won four straight games now, scoring 80 or more points in each of those.
These teams last saw each other back on January 20 in an 85-76 loss for the Sooners on the road. In that one, Oklahoma shot a tepid 42.9 percent from the field with just 18.5 percent (5-of-27) from outside and 49.1 percent shooting allowed on defense. The Sooners were competitive on the boards and in the paint but did have 11 turnovers. Oklahoma needs to keep the Gamecocks’ shooting percentage a little more manageable this time around.
