The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders and the Old Dominion Monarchs meet Friday in college basketball action from Ted Constant Convocation Center.
Middle Tennessee enters this one at 5-13 so far. The Raiders have lost consecutive games to Marshall in their last pair. As for Old Dominion, they’re 12-6 this year. Middle Tennessee hasn’t gotten to experience much success this season, and the team has only won consecutive games once. Since their two victories over Charlotte, the Blue Raiders have lost another pair of games to Marshall.
In the 96-85 loss to Marshall on February 13, Middle Tennessee’s Jalen Jordan led the way on 25 points with three assists and two rebounds. Jordan Davis added 17 points with four assists and three rebounds, and Jo’Vontae Millner had 16 points with three boards.
Over on the Monarchs’ side, they’ve had some successes this season, but have only been able to win more than two consecutive games once this year. In the last four, the Monarchs have two wins over Charlotte and a split pair of games with UAB.
In the 65-58 win over UAB last weekend, Old Dominion’s Xavier Green posted 16 points with five rebounds and one assist. Malik Curry chipped in 11 points with four boards and five assists, and Kalu Ezikpe pulled down 10 rebounds with six points.
Old Dominion is 1-7 ATS in their last eight after an ATS win and 1-5 ATS in their last six Friday games. The over is 4-1 in Old Dominion’s last five Friday games and the under is 4-0 in their last four as a favorite.
Meanwhile, the Raiders are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win. Middle Tennessee is 1-9 ATS in their last 10 Friday games and the over is 4-0 in their last four overall.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Old Dominion. The Monarchs have hit 70 points just once in their last five games, but they’ve been good enough on defense to notch a 3-2 record in that time. Middle Tennessee scored pretty well in the Marshall games, but also gave up a combined 203 points in that pair. If the Monarchs can get their offense working here I can see them banging out a cover.
