Texas A&M started out the year on a great run at 15-2. The Aggies would then hit an eight-game losing streak from mid-January to mid-February. It’s been a 2-1 run since with a loss to Vanderbilt between wins over Florida and Georgia.
In the Georgia matchup on Tuesday, the Aggies held a 48-37 advantage by the break. Texas A&M went on a 43-40 run in the second for a 91-77 win. Leading scorer Quenton Jackson put up 31 points with four assists and six steals.
Over on the Ole Miss side, they went 9-5 to start off the season but have only been able to win consecutive outings once since then. The Rebels are on a 1-5 run with losses to Florida, Alabama, Missouri, South Carolina and Auburn in that time.
On Wednesday versus Auburn, the Rebels were outscored 31-43 in the first half and 33-34 in the second during a 77-64 loss. Jarkel Joiner was the top team scorer with 13 bench points. Luis Rodriguez would add 12 points with six boards.
Ole Miss is 2-5 ATS in their last seven at home and the over is 6-2 in their last eight Saturday games. The over is 5-0 in the Rebels’ last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Aggies are 0-4 ATS in their last four Saturday games and 5-14 ATS in their last 19 after an ATS win. The over is 4-1 in Texas A&M’s last five road games.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Ole Miss. This matchup is something of a dice-roll proposition though, and should be a pretty close game. That said, the Rebels have had a rough run against some tough teams in this 1-5 stretch. The good news is that they’re still scoring reasonably well with 68 or more in four of their last five, though.
The last time these teams met up, Texas A&M secured a 67-51 win on January 15. I like Ole Miss to play better in familiar surroundings and cover this time around. Should be a great game to watch.
