Oregon posted a 5-5 record in their first 10 games this year, losing to BYU, Saint Mary’s, Houston, Arizona State and Stanford along the way. Since then it’s ben a 3-1 run with wins over Portland, Pepperdine and Utah for the Ducks.
Matched up against Utah on January 1, the Ducks overcame a 35-29 halftime deficit with 50 second-half points in a 79-66 comeback win. Leading scorer Will Richardson finished on 26 points, and Jacob Young added 22 more points.
Over on the Beavers’ side, they won their opener versus Portland State, then hit a 10-game losing streak that lasted from November 12 to December 18. In the last pair however, Oregon State has beaten Nicholls State and Utah.
In the Utah game back on December 31, the Beavers scored 47 points in the first half and 41 more from there in an 88-76 win. Jarod Lucas led the team with 25 points. Warith Alatishe added 16 points with five rebounds and two assists.
The Beavers are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 at home and 3-10 ATS in their last 13 overall. Oregon State is 1-4 ATS in their last five games as an underdog.
Meanwhile, the Ducks are 0-4 ATS in their salt four road games and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 overall. Oregon is 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games as a favorite.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Oregon here. The Ducks put up a nice effort against Utah in their last game, shooting 55.6 percent from the field with 10-of-19 (52.6 percent) on 3-point tries. The first half wasn’t great, but Oregon picked it up well from there. The Ducks have been scoring pretty consistently as well; they’ve hit 67 or more points in each of their last eight outings.
As for Oregon State, they’ve hit 73 or more points in each of the last three games, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Beavers hang around for a bit in this one. Ultimately the cover should be Oregon’s to take if they’re on point, though.
