Arizona Wildcats
The Wildcats started out very well and managed a nice 12-4 run over their first 16 games of the year. The only losses in that time were versus Purdue, Florida Atlantic, Stanford and Washington State. In the next pair, Arizona managed wins over USC and UCLA to move to 4-1 in a five-game span.
On Thursday versus Oregon State, Arizona was doing well at halftime up 44-36. The Wildcats had a rough go of things from there though, and ended up falling 83-80 after a 47-36 deficit. Caleb Love led the team on his 23 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Oregon Ducks
Over on the Oregon side, they got off to a great start as well and lost just three of their first 16 games. The Ducks fell to Santa Clara, Alabama and Syracuse but were otherwise perfect through mid-January. The next pair of games were both losses for the Ducks however, to Colorado and Utah.
Matched up against Arizona State in their Thursday matchup, Oregon was down 33-28 in the locker room. The Ducks woke up in the second half on a 52-28 run and took the 80-61 win in the end, though. Leading the way was Jermaine Couisnard with 19 points and three assists.
ANDREW’S FREE ARIZONA VS OREGON PREDICTION
I’m going to take a stab on Arizona here. The Wildcats suffered a rough loss against Oregon State in their last outing, thanks mostly to a bad second half. Arizona shot well from the field in that one (52.8 percent) but also hit just three of their 14 attempts from 3-point range (21.4 percent). It’ll take a significant bounce-back effort in another tricky road game here, though.
As for Oregon, they started a little slowly in their latest win over Arizona State but everything worked out well in the end. The Ducks have scored 70 or more points in six straight games, so it’ll probably take a good offensive showing from Arizona in order to pound out the cover.
