In this article, we will formulate a Penn State vs Indiana prediction for this College Basketball game on Sunday, January 5th at The Palestra in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this College Basketball matchup.

Penn State Nittany Lions Betting Preview

The Penn State Nittany Lions are 12-2 (2-1) this year after they defeated Northwestern by a score of 84-80 in their last game. Penn State led 37-34 at halftime and added 47 points in the second half to hang on for the win. The Nittany Lions shot 50% from the field, 26.7% on three-pointers, and 80% on free throws in the game. Zach Hicks led Penn State with 20 points and three rebounds, while Ace Baldwin Jr. added 17 points and five steals in the game.

Prior to that win, the Nittany Lions defeated Penn by a score of 86-66 and Drexel by a score of 75-64. Penn State has won four games in a row and they opened conference play with a win over Purdue and a loss against Rutgers. Penn State has scored 87.9 points per game and they have allowed 67.9 points per game, while also averaging 36.8 rebounds and 18.4 assists per game this season. Ace Baldwin Jr. is averaging 15.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 8.5 assists per game, while Yanic Konan Niederhauser is averaging 13.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game. Penn State is shooting 50.4% from the field, 76.2% on free throws, and 35.3% on three-pointers this year.

Indiana Hoosiers Betting Preview

The Indiana Hoosiers are 11-3 (2-1) this season after they defeated Rutgers by a score of 84-74 in their last game. Indiana led 41-34 at halftime and added 43 second-half points in the win. The Hoosiers shot 38.9% from the field, 44.4% on three-pointers, and 64% on free throws in the game. Myles Rice led Indiana with 21 points and five rebounds, while Oumar Ballo added 17 points and 12 rebounds in the game.

Prior to that win, the Hoosiers defeated Winthrop by a score of 77-68 and Chattanooga by a score of 74-65. Indiana has won three games in a row and seven of their last eight, but they do have an 85-68 loss to Nebraska and an 82-67 win over Minnesota earlier in conference play. Indiana has scored 79.1 points per game and they have allowed 70.2 points per game, while also averaging 39.1 rebounds and 16.7 assists per game this season. Malik Reneau is averaging 14.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game, while Mackenzie Mgbako is averaging 13.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game this year. Indiana is shooting 48.1% from the field, 71.9% on free throws, and 32% on three-pointers this season. Indiana will meet USC, Iowa, and Illinois after this game.

Why Penn State will beat Indiana

  • The home team has won each of Indiana’s last seven games.
  • The home team has won the first half in each of Indiana’s last seven games.

Penn State vs Indiana Prediction

Both of these teams come into this matchup with great records to start the season and they are both 2-1 in conference play, so this is a huge game for both teams to keep momentum. Penn State has scored at least 84 points in three of their last four games and they are scoring nearly 88 points per game this year. The Nittany Lions did knock off Purdue by double digits at home earlier this season, so this is going to be a tough place to play. Indiana just put up 84 against Rutgers, but they have been lower-scoring so far this year. The Hoosiers did lose their last road game by 17 points against Nebraska and I need to see them compete on the road before backing them away from home. Take the Nittany Lions at home here.
