Wisconsin Badgers
Wisconsin managed a fairly solid start through 15 games this year, going 11-4 overall. The Badgers are just 2-5 since then however, falling to Indiana, Northwestern, Illinois, Maryland and Northwestern again in that time.
In the Northwestern rematch on Sunday, the Badgers went into the locker room with a 26-23 deficit. Wisconsin hit a 29-28 advantage from there but still fell in a tough 54-52 result. Chucky Hepburn led the team on 17 points in the defeat.
Penn State Nittany Lions
Over on the Penn State side, they managed to go a decent 11-5 through 16 games to kick things off. The Lions have since gone 3-4 with losses to Wisconsin, Rutgers, Purdue and Nebraska alongside wins over Indiana, Nebraska and Michigan.
Taking on Nebraska in the Sunday rematch, the Lions went into the second half with a 37-28 deficit. Penn State kept the pace on 35 points from there but still lost 72-63. Seth Lundy was the high scorer on 24 points and seven boards.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’m going to stick with Penn State. The Nittany Lions are a sketchy 3-4 over their last seven games, but all three of their victories in that time came at Bryce Jordan Center. Penn State held a 36-30 halftime lead the last time these teams met back on January 17 at Kohl Center, but ultimately lost the game 63-60. This time I like Penn State to perform better and power out the cover. Wisconsin has held opponents to 61 or fewer points in three straight games however, so it’s going to take a big offensive effort to get there.
