Pittsburgh vs Towson College Basketball Picks, Best Bets and Odds 11/19/2021

The Towson Tigers and the Pittsburgh Panthers meet Friday in college basketball action from Petersen Events Center. Towson comes into this one at 2-1 so far. The Tigers beat Hampton in their last game. As for Pittsburgh, they sit at 1-2 thus far. The Panthers got their first win over UNC Wilmington during their last time out. Towson matched up against Albany in their opener this year. The Tigers scored 39 points in the first half on the way to a 77-56 win. In game two, Towson had some trouble against Monmouth. The Tigers trailed 43-31 at the break and ultimately lost 79-71. 

In game three against Hampton, Towson was able to get back into the win column. The Tigers took a 35-25 halftime advantage and turned it into a 78-54 blowout win. Jason Gibson led the team with 13 points, three assists and one rebound. 

Over on the Pittsburgh side, they put up duds in their first two games of the season. The opener was against the Citadel, turning into a 78-63 defeat. The Panthers matched up against West Virginia in game two, eventually losing 74-59 to move to 0-2. 

The Panthers got their first victory of the year on Tuesday against UNC Wilmington. Pittsburgh was up 34-21 at halftime and the team was able to hang on for a 59-51 win. Femi Odukale was the leading scorer with 15 points, seven rebounds and three assists. 

The Panthers are 6-2 ATS in their last eight Friday games and 7-3 ATS in the last 10 after a straight-up win. The under is 5-2 in Pitt’s last seven overall.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 0-5 ATS in their last five after an ATS win and 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 road games. Towson is 4-1-1 ATS in their last six Friday games. 

PICK: I’m going to stay with Towson. Pittsburgh has been wholly unimpressive in the first three games so far. The Panthers posted a solid win in their last game versus UNC Wilmington, but shot just 1-of-4 from 3-point range and were outscored 30-25 in the second half. The Seahawks miserable 28.8 percent shooting didn’t hurt, either. 

As for Towson, they’ve shown some decent potential over their first three. The Tigers had five players in double-figure scoring during their last outing, and I think they’ll keep up the solid play here.
