The UNC-Wilmington Seahawks and the Pitt Panthers meet in college basketball action from the Petersen Events Center on Tuesday night.

The UNC-Wilmington Seahawks come into this game after picking up a 77-68 win over subdivision Guilford last time out. Shykeim Phillips leads the Seahawks in scoring with 14.5 PPG along with 3 APG and Jaylen Fornes has 11.5 PPG with 3 APG as the only other player to average double digits in scoring for UNCW in their first two games of the season. James Baker and Jaylen Sims each have 9 PPG with Baker logging 5.5 RPG while Sims has a team-high 9 RPG this season. As a team, UNC-Wilmington is averaging 70 PPG on 38.3% shooting from the field, 34% from three and 70.3% from the foul line while allowing 68 PPG on 38.1% from the field and 39% from three this season.

The Pitt Panthers will be hoping to bounce back from a 74-59 loss to West Virginia in their last game. John Hugley leads Pitt in scoring and rebounding with 22 PPG and 8 RPG while Femi Odukale has 13.5 PPG and a team-high 4 APG to make up the pair of double-digit scorers for Pitt through their first two games of the campaign. William Jeffress also has 6 PPG and 7 RPG while Mouhamadou Gueye has 6 PPG and 6 RPG as well for the Panthers. As a team, Pitt is averaging 61 PPG on 46% shooting from the field, 21.7% from three and 52.1% from the foul line while allowing 76 PPG on 48.4% from the field and 37.9% from three this season.

UNC-Wilmington is 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 2-12 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a winning percentage below .400 while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games following a win. Pitt is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as a favorite and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a loss while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 games following an ATS win.

This is tough because I don’t want to back either of these teams if I’m being honest. However, if forced to pick, I think Pitt may end up being the worst team in the ACC this season and I’m not sure they should be laying points against anyone even early on in the season. UNCW isn’t a world-beater, but they hung around with Illinois State and got a win last time to maybe build some confidence so if I had to, I’d lean towards UNC-Wilmington and the points.
