The Weber State Wildcats and the Portland State Vikings meet Thursday in college basketball action from Stott Center. Weber State currently sits at 19-9 on the year. The Wildcats lost to Northern Colorado in their last game. As for Portland State, they’re 9-15 on the season and coming off a win over Northern Arizona. Weber State had a rough 2-5 run in December and early January, but then hit a nice eight-game win streak. The Wildcats have lost four of their last five to Montana State, Eastern Washington, Idaho and Northern Colorado, however.

In the Northern Colorado matchup back on Saturday, the Wildcats saw their seven-point halftime lead disappear as the teams went to halftime. Weber State couldn’t keep up and lost 83-79. Koby McEwen led the way on his 29 points and seven boards.

Over on the Portland State side, their year began on a 4-13 stretch before a four-game win streak in January and early February. After losses to Montana State and Montana, the Vikings beat Northern Arizona last week.

Last Thursday in the Northern Arizona game, the Vikings were up 34-25 by halftime. Portland State nearly blew their lead with a 34-42 second half but took the game 68-67. Damion Squire led the team with his 19 points and two rebounds.

The Vikings are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 at home and 6-2 ATS in their last eight overall. Portland State is 4-1 ATS in the last five Thursday games.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 road games and 0-7 ATS in their last seven overall. The over is 9-2 in Weber State’s last 11 road games.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Weber State. The Wildcats haven’t done all that well during this 1-4 stretch, and they’ve given up 75 or more points in each of their losses. Prior to that however, Weber State had an eight-game win streak going with 78 or more points scored in every outing.

As for Portland State, they’ve scored 68 or more points in nine straight games so I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one as a high-total shootout. All things considered I like Weber State a little better cover-wise but you could probably make a case either way.
