The Alabama A&M Bulldogs will travel to the William Nicks Building to take on the Prairie View A&M Panthers this Monday night in College Basketball action.

The Alabama A&M Bulldogs lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 4-12 on the season after being defeated by the Texas Southern Tigers, 78-44, this past Saturday. Alabama A&M had no answers on the offensive end for Texas Southern and could not fight back after going into halftime with a 42-20 lead. Alabama A&M shot just 29.1% from the field & 7.1% from beyond the arc while allowing Texas Southern to shoot 41.7% from the field & 42.9% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Jalen Johnson who had 11 points, 5 rebounds, & 2 steals.

On the season, Alabama A&M is averaging 58.0 ppg on 37.0% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs are averaging 3.8 three-pointers per game on 26.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Alabama A&M has been led by Jalen Johnson (14.6 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.1 spg), Garrett Hicks (14.1 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.2 apg, 2.1 spg), Dailin Smith (7.4 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.3 spg), & EJ Williams (6.1 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.3 apg).

Defensively, Alabama A&M is allowing their opponents to average 68.9 ppg on 41.3% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs have a rebound margin of -5.1 and a turnover margin of 0.8.

The Prairie View A&M Panthers won their 2nd straight game and improved to 3-12 on the season after defeating the Alabama State Hornets, 70-67, this past Saturday. Prairie View A&M trailed by a 57-49 with just 9:23 left in regulation, however, the Panthers offense was outstanding down the stretch and Prairie View A&M was able to secure the victory after Jeremiah Gambrell hit a game-winning three-pointer with just :03 seconds left in the game. Prairie View A&M shot 42.1% from the field & 47.8% from beyond the arc while holding Alabama State to 37.5% shooting from the field & 39.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Panthers was Jeremiah Gambrell who had 26 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, Prairie View A&M is averaging 68.3 ppg on 42.7% shooting from the field. The Panthers are averaging 5.9 three-pointers per game on 33.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Prairie View A&M has been led by Jawaun Daniels (13.2 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.4 apg), D’Rell Roberts (10.9 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.8 apg), Williams Douglas (9.8 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.0 spg), & Jeremiah Gambrell (9.4 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 2.6 apg).

Defensively, Prairie View A&M is allowing their opponents to average 82.6 ppg on 47.8% shooting from the field. The Panthers have a rebound margin of -4.9 and a turnover margin of -2.7.

The Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record, however, are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Panthers are 6-9 ATS overall on the season.

Alabama A&M has been led by their defense this season which ranks 174th in scoring defense & 96th in defensive FG%, however, the Bulldogs have struggled on the offensive end and currently rank just 347th in scoring offense & 349th in FG%. Prairie View A&M has struggled on both ends of the court this season and come into this game ranked just 259th in scoring offense, 347th in scoring defense, & 340th in defensive FG%.

Both teams aren’t going to be making much noise this season in the SWAC, however, when comparing these two team to each other, I think it’s clear that Prairie View A&M is the better team. Alabama A&M has struggled all season on the offensive end of the court and as I’ve liked what I’ve seen from the Panthers in their back-to-back wins against Alcorn State & Alabama State, I’m taking Prairie View A&M to cover this home spread. Good Luck!
