The Prairie View A&M Panthers and the Grambling Tigers meet in a SWAC tournament semi-final matchup in college basketball action from Bartow Arena on Friday night.
The Prairie View A&M Panthers booked their spot to the semis as the #1 seed with a 91-64 win over Mississippi Valley State last time out. Jawaun Daniels led the Panthers in scoring with 36 points on 13 of 19 shooting with 7 threes, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and a pair of steals while Cam Mack added 13 points on 4 of 7 shooting with 3 threes, 5 rebounds and 5 assists as the only other double-digit scorer for Prairie View in the winning effort. Lenell Henry had a team-high 9 rebounds while Faite Williams added 9 points with 4 assists.
The Grambling Tigers booked a spot in the semis with a 72-67 win over Southern last time out. Cam Christon led the Tigers with 26 points, shooting 8 of 15 from the field with 4 threes and 8 rebounds while Michael Moton added 14 points with 3 steals. Terreon Randolph and Prince Moss each had 12 points to make up the group of double-digit scorers for Grambling in the winning effort, with Randolph shooting 6 of 7 with 11 rebounds, 5 steals and a pair of blocks for the double-double while Moss shot 5 of 10 with a pair of threes and 5 rebounds. Trevell Cunningham also dished out a team-high 4 assists as well in the losing effort.
Prairie View A&M is 14-4-2 ATS in their last 20 games overall and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 neutral site games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games following an ATS win. Grambling is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a win while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 neutral site games.
I think a case could be made for either side here as you have two teams that couls genuinely win this game. However, Grambling was on a nice cover run to finish the year, enough of a run that it’s hard to ignore the points here even against Prairie View. I just need to see how the Panthers do in a real game here so I’ll take Grambling and the points.
