Prairie View A&M vs Jackson State 2/28/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Jackson State Tigers and the Prairie View A&M Panthers meet Monday in college basketball action from William Nicks Building. Jackson State is 8-18 on the season and coming off a loss to Texas Southern. As for Prairie View, they’re sitting at 8-16 this year. The Panthers lost to Alcorn State in their last game. Jackson State started out the year on a rough 4-16 run. The Tigers were able to find some momentum this month with wins over MS Valley State, AR-Pine Bluff, Florida A&M and Bethune Cookman but then lost to Alcorn State and Texas Southern. 

On Saturday versus Texas Southern, the Tigers were outscored 27-42 in the first half. Jackson State kept the pace from there but still lost 81-66. Both Jayveous McKinnis (10 points; 10 boards) and Terence Lewis (10 points; 11 rebounds) doubled up in the loss. 

Over on the Prairie View side, their year began at a dismal 1-12 overall. The Panthers have gone 7-4 over their last 11 games, though. After wins over Southern, Grambling, AR Pine Bluff and MS Valley State, Prairie View lost to Alcorn State in their last game. 

On Saturday versus Alcorn State, the Panthers had a 40-37 lead by halftime. Prairie View couldn’t keep it going in the second however and lost 72-69. Jawaun Daniels was the top scorer with 23 points and 10 rebounds. 

The Panthers are 5-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS loss and 4-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss. Prairie View is 13-6-2 ATS in their last 21 at home.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 2-6 ATS in their last eight road games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 overall. The under is 5-2 in Jackson State’s last seven road games.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Prairie View in this one. The Panthers have scored pretty well over this recent 4-1 run, with 69 or more points in each outing. There have been some slips along the way, but lately Prairie View has been competitive in most matchups. 

The last time these teams met up back on January 15, Jackson State managed a 75-64 win at home. I think Prairie View will be ready for the Tigers this time, and I like the Panthers to pull off the cover.
