The Campbell Fighting Camels and the Presbyterian Blue Hose meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Templeton Physical Education Center. Campbell is currently 12-7 this year. The Camels beat High Point in their last game. As for Presbyterian, they’re 9-13 and fresh off a loss to UNC Asheville. Campbell got off to a spotty 7-6 start that included a postponement break from December 22 to January 5. The Camels are 5-1 in their last six outings, though. In that time, Campbell has beaten Charleston Southern, Radford, NC A&T, Hampton and High Point.
Matched up against High Point on Saturday, the Camels posted a 39-30 edge in the first half. Campbell was able to hang on from there in a 77-72 win. Tops in scoring were Jordan Whitfield and Jesus Carralero, each with 14 points and a combined 11 rebounds.
Over on the Presbyterian side, they were sitting at 8-7 at the end of the 2021 calendar year. The Hose have hit a rough 1-6 stretch since then. Presbyterian has lost to NC A&T, USC Upstate, Gardner-Webb, Winthrop, Longwood and UNC Asheville in that time.
In the UNC Asheville game, the Hose were down by two points by halftime. Presbyterian got better from there with 41 points but still lost 68-67 in a tough outcome. Winston Hill led the team with 29 points and eight rebounds.
The Hose are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 after an ATS loss and the under is 5-0 in their last five Wednesday games. Presbyterian is 4-1 ATS in their last five as a home underdog.
Meanwhile, the Camels are 8-3-1 ATS in the last 12 road games and 1-7 ATS in their last eight Wednesday games. Campbell is 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine after an ATS loss.
PICK: I’m going to take a shot on Presbyterian. The Hose’s 1-6 record looks pretty ugly, but the team hasn’t been getting blown out. Presbyterian has stayed competitive in that time, losing each of their last four by three points or fewer. That said, Campbell has hit 73 or more points in three straight games so the Hose are likely going to have to turn up the offense to keep up. I think they can power out a cover here.
