Presbyterian vs Elon 12/15/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Elon Phoenix and the Presbyterian Blue Hose meet Thursday in college basketball action from Templeton Physical Education Center. Elon enters this one at 2-8 overall. The Phoenix took out JWU-Charlotte in their last outing. As for Presbyterian, they’re 2-9 on the season and coming off a loss to South Carolina. Elon has eight losses this year to East Tennessee State, Harvard, North Dakota, NC State, Jacksonville State, Radford, High Point and UNC Greensboro. Bookending those are wins over Erskine and JWU-Charlotte. 

In the JWU-Charlotte game back on Sunday, Elon jumped out to a 50-34 edge by halftime. The Phoenix hit a 51-35 run in the second half for a 101-69 blowout win. Sam Sherry scored 24 points, and Max Mackinnon added 23 points.

Over on the Presbyterian side, they won their opener then hit a losing streak to the Citadel, East Carolina, UAB, Bucknell, Albany and Charlotte. The Hose would then beat VMI then fall to Wofford and Charleston in the next pair. 

On Sunday versus South Carolina, Presbyterian’s losing streak continued. The Blue Hose took a 37-33 deficit into the break and ultimately lost 68-57. Winston Hill led the team on 16 points with five assists and four boards. 

PICK: I’m probably taking Presbyterian here. Admittedly, there’s not a lot of intrigue involved in a matchup between teams that are a combined 4-17 overall. That said, it should be a fairly competitive game. Presbyterian is coming off a nice shooting effort versus South Carolina (52.2 percent) and the team actually kept up in rebounding 25-25 overall. The Hose haven’t scored more than 63 points for three straight games, however there should be ample opportunity to score in this one.
