Radford Highlanders

Radford kicked off the year on a 7-9 run, beating Bridgewater, Averett, Army, NC Central, Elon, George Washington and Presbyterian. The Highlanders have beaten Gardner-Webb, Winthrop, Charleston Southern, Campbell, High Point, Longwood and USC Upstate since then.

In the USC Upstate matchup on Saturday, the Highlanders took a 27-17 advantage into the locker room. Radford was outscored 35-28 from there but held on for the tense 55-52 win. Bryan Antoine led the team on 21 points with three rebounds.

Presbyterian Blue Hose

Over on the Presbyterian side, they beat only Piedmont International, VMI, Elon, Allen and Campbell in their first 16 games. The Hose are currently riding a nine-game losing streak, most recently falling to Winthrop.

On Saturday versus Winthrop, the Hose took a 34-32 deficit into the second half. Presbyterian was outscored 42-26 from there and lost 76-58. Both Terrell Ard and Marquis Barnett posted 15 points apiece to lead the way.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with Radford. Also probably not going near this one. The Highlanders haven’t been all that impressive on the scoreboard over this current seven-game win streak, but you can’t argue with the results. Radford has been at 66 or fewer points in five of those outings and keeping opponents in line very well on the other side. That’s bad news for Presbyterian, who has scored 61 or fewer in six of their last nine outings. Radford won 69-51 the last time these teams met up back on December 31, and I don’t think this one will be that much different.

Andrew's Free Pick: Radford Highlanders -6.5
