The Georgetown Hoyas and the Providence Friars meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Dunkin’ Donuts Center. Georgetown enters this one at 6-18 overall. The Hoyas lost to UConn in their last outing. As for Providence, they’re sitting at 17-6 on the season after a loss to Xavier. Georgetown Hoyas

Georgetown didn’t get off to a great start this year, going just 5-11 through their first 16 games. Since then the Hoyas are 1-7 with losses to Marquette, Seton Hall, Villanova, Xavier, St. John’s, Creighton and UConn in that time.

Back on Saturday versus UConn, the Hoyas held a 31-31 tie at the break. Georgetown was outscored 37-31 in the second half and lost 68-62. Brandon Murray was the top team scorer with 21 points and four rebounds.

Providence Friars

Over on the Providence side, they hit a solid 13-3 run during their first 16 games this year. The Friars are a shaky 4-3 since then however, beat St. John’s, DePaul, Butler and Villanova with losses to Creighton, Marquette and Xavier.

In the Xavier game last Wednesday, the Friars scored 35 points in the first half, 41 in the second and seven in overtime during a tough 85-83 loss. Noah Locke led the team on 22 points and Ed Croswell added 21 points with nine rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’m staying with Providence. The Friars took a good Xavier team to the absolute limit in their last game, ultimately falling short on the road against a tough opponent. Still, Providence shot 43.5 percent with 44 rebounds and 18 assists in that one. The Friars have hit 70 or more points in five straight games, and they’ll need a good showing against Georgetown. The Hoyas are struggling this year but they’re not getting blown out; Georgetown has been within two points of St. John’s and six points of UConn in their last three games. That said, I like Providence to bounce back from their last loss with a cover here.

Andrew's Free Pick: Providence Friars -16.5
