The Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Providence Friars meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Dunkin’ Donuts Center. Texas Tech is 6-0 so far and coming off a win over Lamar. As for Providence, they’re 6-1 and fresh off a win over Saint Peter’s. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Texas Tech hasn’t really had a close game yet this year; the team has played well. The Red Raiders have notched wins over North Florida, Grambling State, Prairie View, Incarnate Word, Omaha and Lamar in their first half-dozen outings.

In the Lamar game, Texas Tech jumped out to a 52-33 halftime edge and cruised to an eventual 89-57 blowout win. Kevin Obanor topped the team on 20 points with seven boards, and Bryson Williams added 16 points with four rebounds.

Over on the Providence side, they won their first five games this year over Fairfield, Sacred Heart, Wisconsin, New Hampshire and Northwestern before a loss to Virginia. The Friars bounced back with a win over Saint Peter’s in the next game.

In the win over Saint Peter’s, Providence had a good second half on a 47-34 edge. The result was an 85-71 Friars win. Top scorer Noah Horchler doubled up with 25 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in the victory.

Providence is 1-5 ATS in the last six after an ATS win and 4-0 ATS in their last four as an underdog. The under is 7-1 in the Friars’ last eight Wednesday games.

Meanwhile, the Raiders are 0-7 ATS in their last seven road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five overall. The over is 4-1 in Texas Tech’s last five Wednesday games.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Texas Tech. This should be a pretty interesting matchup regardless, though. The Raiders didn’t have a ton of issues in their last game, shooting 54 percent from the field with 11-of-24 (45.8 percent) on 3-pointers, 41 rebounds and 18 team assists. It’s been pretty smooth sailing for Texas Tech so far, but this one might get tricky.

Providence has only the one bad game versus a tough Virginia team, but otherwise they’ve played well this season. I think the Friars will hang around for most of the game before Texas Tech pulls away on a cover. Should be a fun one.
