The Providence Friars and the Wisconsin Badgers meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Jenny Craig Pavilion. Here’s a Wisconsin vs Providence prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Wisconsin vs Providence pick.
Providence Friars Betting Preview
It’s been a choppy year for Providence thus far, but they’ve been able to keep their heads above the .500 mark in the record column. The Friars opened up on a spotty 2-2 run, taking wins over Holy Cross and Penn alongside a couple of losses in that time versus Virginia Tech and Colorado. In the two games since however, it’s been a couple of wins for Providence versus New Hampshire and Penn State. That gives the Friars a 4-2 run over the first half dozen games of the season.
Back on Saturday in their most recent appearance versus Penn State, Providence entered the second half with a tight 32-31 edge. The Friars hit a 45-34 run the rest of the way, then took a 77-65 win in the end. Stefan Vaaks was tops on the team with 15 points, five assists and three rebounds, while Jason Edwards added 14 points and six boards. Jaylin Sellers chipped in with 13 points, two rebounds and one assist in 28 minutes of work on the floor during the win.
Wisconsin Badgers Betting Preview
Over on the Badgers’ side, they opened up their year on a string of wins, but took their first defeat of the season in their most recent outing. Wisconsin took out Campbell in their opener before a game two win over Northern Illinois. The Badgers would then dispatch Ball State in blowout fashion ahead of another win versus SIU Edwardsville. Wisconsin fell to BYU last week however, giving the Badgers a 4-1 run across their opening five games of the new season.
Back on Friday in game five versus BYU, Wisconsin was in the locker room with a 45-33 deficit. The Badgers were outscored 53-37 the rest of the way and lost 98-70 in the end. Nicholas Boyd led the team in the losing effort with 16 points and two rebounds. Nolan Winter managed to double up with 14 points and 14 rebounds, while John Blackwell had 14 options with seven boards in the defeat.

Wisconsin vs Providence Prediction
I’ll likely take a stab on Providence here. You could probably make a case either way, though. The Friars didn’t shoot all that well (40.6 percent) and hit just 6-of-33 (18.2 percent) from outside in their latest win over Penn State. The rebounding (40) and points in the paint (a 42-24 advantage) were solid however, and Providence committed just seven turnovers along the way. The Friars are scoring quite well this year with 77 or more points in every game but they’re also giving up quite a bit to decent offenses.
As for Wisconsin, they didn’t shoot great themselves (37.7 percent) in the loss to BYU. The Badgers were out-rebounded 41-36 and has 12 turnovers alongside 7-of-29 (24.1 percent) from outside as well. Otherwise Wisconsin has been scoring well this year however, so we should have a pretty decent-sized total in this one. It’ll be a fun game.
