The Duke Blue Devils and the Purdue Boilermakers meet Sunday in college basketball action from Moda Center. Duke comes into this one at 6-1 overall. The Blue Devils beat Xavier in their last game. As for Purdue, they’re sitting at 5-0 and coming off a win over Gonzaga. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Duke managed to win their first two games this year over Jacksonville 71-44 and USC Upstate 84-38. The Blue Devils took their first loss versus Kansas 69-64, then came back with wins over Delaware, Bellarmine and Oregon State.

On Friday versus Xavier, the Blue Devils went into the locker room with a 40-34 advantage. Duke kept the pace from there in a 71-64 victory. Jeremy Roach topped the team on 21 points with five assists and four rebounds.

Over on the Purdue side, they’ve had a close call or two along the way but overall the team has done very well so far this year. The Boilermakers’ first four wins came courtesy of Milwaukee, Austin Peay, Marquette and West Virginia.

In the Friday matchup versus Gonzaga, the Boilermakers were up by five going into the second half. Purdue hit a 51-38 run from there and got the win 84-66. Zach Edey led the team on 23 points with seven rebounds.

PICK: I may take a stab on Purdue here. It’s a coin-flip proposition, though. The Boilermakers did a great job against Gonzaga on Friday, shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 38.5 (10-of-26) from 3-point range. Purdue bagged a nice 46-31 rebounding advantage (13-8 offensive) during the victory.

This will probably be the Boilermakers’ toughest game of the season so far, though. Duke has hit their stride again since the loss to Kansas. The Blue Devils shot 50 percent from the field with 33 rebounds versus Xavier in their last outing. I like this one to be pretty close the whole way; should be a fun game to watch.
