The Hofstra Pride and the Purdue Boilermakers meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Mackey Arena. Hofstra enters this one at 6-3 overall. The Pride lost to George Mason in their last game. As for Purdue, they’re rolling along at 8-0 after a win over Minnesota on Sunday. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Hofstra opened the season at 4-0 with wins over Princeton, Iona, George Washington and San Jose State. The Pride lost to Saint Mary’s and Middle Tennessee, then beat UNC Greensboro and Quinnipiac.

In game nine the Pride faced George Mason. Hofstra lost a 31-26 halftime lead and fell 81-77 in overtime. Leading scorer Aaron Estrada put up 31 points with five rebounds. Tyler Thomas added 14 points as well.

Over on the Purdue side, it’s been smooth sailing this year—minus a close call or two. The Boilermakers have beaten Milwaukee, Austin Peay, Marquette, West Virginia, Gonzaga, Duke, Florida State and Minnesota so far.

In the Minnesota game back on Sunday, Purdue took a 42-27 lead into the locker room. The Boilermakers kept it rolling from there in an 89-70 win. Zach Edey led the way with 31 points and 22 boards. Fletcher Loyer added 20 points as well.

PICK: I’ll probably stick with Purdue here. The Boilermakers posted a nice win over Minnesota in their last outing, with 50.8 percent shooting, 41 rebounds and 22 assists. Purdue has been scoring well this year, with 75 or more points in seven of eight games. As for Hofstra, they’ve hit 72 or more points in consecutive games but had a run of 65 or fewer for three straight outings prior to that. I don’t think they’ll keep up in this tough road matchup.
