Wisconsin Badgers
The Badgers only lost four of their first 20 games this year, but it’s been a rocky road since then. Wisconsin is 3-7 in their last 10 outings with wins over Ohio State, Maryland and Rutgers among those games. It’s been a better 2-2 run over the last four however, including the win over the Knights.
Back on Thursday versus Rutgers, the Badgers came out of the break with a 34-32 edge. Wisconsin kept it up in the second half with a 44-34 run and took the win in the end 78-66. AJ Storr was the leading team scorer with his 19 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
Purdue Boilermakers
Over on the Purdue side, they took just three losses over the first 26 outings. Those were versus Northwestern, Nebraska and Ohio State. The Boilermakers are 4-0 in their last quartet with wins over Rutgers, Michigan, Michigan State and Illinois in succession.
In their Tuesday matchup versus Illinois, the Boilermakers were in trouble with a 40-34 deficit in the locker room. Purdue rallied in the second half on a 43-31 run though, eventually taking the win 77-71. Tops in scoring was Zach Edey with 28 points, eight rebounds and three assists.
ANDREW’S FREE WISCONSIN VS PURDUE PREDICTION
I’ll stay with Purdue. The Boilermakers posted a nice effort in the second half versus a good Illinois team in their last outing. Purdue would end up shooting 48.3 percent from the field and 56.3 percent from 3-point range with 31 rebounds and 20 team assists. That makes 77 or more points in four straight games.
The Boilermakers managed a road win the last time these teams met up back on February 4, taking it 75-69. Purdue managed a 42-29 rebounding edge and held the Badgers to just 15.8 percent (3-of-19) from 3-point range in the victory. This home rematch should be a comfortable environment for the Boilermakers and I like them to thrive in a cover to finish things off.
