The Yale Bulldogs and the Purdue Boilermakers meet Monday in college basketball action from Mackey Arena. Here’s a Purdue vs Yale prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Purdue vs Yale pick.

Yale Bulldogs Betting Preview

Yale started out their year with a matchup against Quinnipiac. The Bulldogs scored 41 points in the first half and 47 more from there in an 88-62 win. Yale’s top scorer was John Poulakidas with 19 points. Isaac Celiscar added 18 points and eight rebounds.

In game two versus UIC, Yale had a 41-34 edge at the break. The Bulldogs faded on a 57-38 run from there, however, and lost 91-79. Poulakidas had 21 points this time, and Yassine Gharram doubled up on 13 points with 10 boards.

Purdue Boilermakers Betting Preview

Over on the Purdue side, they kicked things off with a home matchup against Texas A&M-CC. The Boilermakers scored 49 points in the first half along the way to a 90-73 win. Fletcher Loyer had 21 points to lead the way. Braden Smith had 12 points with 15 assists and eight rebounds.

Game two was another win for Purdue, this time over Northern Kentucky. The Boilermakers went into the locker room with a 37-24 edge and eventually took it 72-50. Loyer had 16 points this time, and Trey Kaufman-Renn got in on the action with 15 points and five boards. Purdue will face Alabama following this one.

Why the Purdue Boilermakers will win

  • Purdue has won each of its last 28 games against non-conference opponents at Mackey Arena.
  • Yale has lost 11 of its last 12 games against AP-ranked opponents.
  • Purdue has won the first half in each of its last 11 games against non-conference opponents at Mackey Arena.

Why the Yale Bulldogs will win

  • Yale has won each of its last 10 Monday games.
  • Yale has won the first half in five of its last six night games.

Purdue vs Yale Prediction

I’ll probably just stick with Purdue at home. The Boilermakers have two pretty solid showing against overmatched teams so far, and they’ll have the advantage on Monday as well. Purdue held Northern Kentucky to just 29.8 percent shooting from the field and 21.7 percent (5-of-23) from 3-point range in their latest win. There were some rough areas though, such as a 15-8 deficit in offensive rebounding and 13 turnovers.

As for Yale, they faded in the second half during their last game against UIC, ultimately giving up 91 points. The Bulldogs have scored pretty well themselves in their first two games (167 combined points), but I don’t see them hitting any lofty totals on Monday against the Boilermakers.
