The Fairfield Stags and the Quinnipiac Bobcats meet Friday in college basketball action from TD Bank Sports Center. Fairfield is 10-11 so far this year. The Stags lost to Rider in their last game. Fairfield went 6-9 over their first 15 games with wins over Towson, Evansville, Saint Peter’s, Sacred Heart, Coast Guard and Marist. The Stags have since gone 4-2 with losses to Iona and Rider in that time.
Back on Sunday versus Rider, the Stags scored 36 points in the first half, 29 in the second and just four in overtime on the way to a 78-69 defeat. Leading scorer Supreme Cook doubled up on 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Over on the Quinnipiac side, they went 11-5 over their first 16 outings. The Bobcats lost to Hofstra, Niagara, Saint Peter’s, Penn State and Siena in that time. Quinnipiac is 5-1 in their last half-dozen games with a lone loss to Iona.
In their Tuesday game versus Marist, Quinnipiac was down 40-36 by halftime. The Bobcats hit a 36-26 run in the second for a comeback win 72-66. Matt Balanc was tops on the team with 18 points and six rebounds.

I’ll probably take a stab on Quinnipiac here. The Bobcats bounced back well from the Iona loss with a solid win over Marist in their last outing—even if the team did start a little slow. Quinnipiac has now hit 72 or more points in three straight games. As for Fairfield, they’ve gone 4-4 over the last eight games and haven’t hit 70 points in any of those outings. If Quinnipiac can get off to a good start and get the offense moving here, I think they’ll be okay on a cover.
