The Marist Red Foxes and the Quinnipiac Bobcats meet Saturday in college basketball action from TD Bank Sports Center. Marist is sitting at 8-10 this year. The Foxes lost to Saint Peter’s in their last game. As for Quinnipiac, they’re 10-7 on the season and fresh off a loss to Iona. Marist has struggled this year, and they’re yet to win more than two consecutive games. Over the last seven outings, the Red Foxes are just 2-5. The losses in that stretch came to Iona, Rider, Siena, Fairfield and Saint Peter’s.
In the Peacocks game on Wednesday, the Foxes had a 34-31 lead going into halftime. The Red Foxes were outscored 38-28 from there in a 69-62 loss. Top scorers Samkelo Cele and Jay Ituka each scored 15 points with a combined three rebounds.
Over on the Quinnipiac side, they got off to a 7-4 run to start the year, losing to Maryland, New Hampshire, Brown and Saint Peter’s. The Bobcats are on a 3-3 run in their last six, taking losses to Niagara, Canisius and Iona in that time.
In the Iona game on Sunday, the Bobcats kept the pace in the first half but were outscored 43-28 in the second for a 76-61 defeat. Dezi Jones led the team with 13 points, and Luis Kortright added 12 bench points with two rebounds.
The Bobcats are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five at home and 2-5 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss. The under is 5-0 in Quinnipiac’s last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Foxes are 1-4 ATS in the last five overall and 5-2 ATS in their last seven Friday games. The under is 14-5-1 in Marist’s last 20 Friday games.
PICK: I’m going with Quinnipiac. The Bobcats had a pretty good three-game run going this month, scoring 72 or more points in three straight games. Quinnipiac had a bad second half in their last outing versus Iona, though. Still, considering Marist hasn’t scored more than 66 points in three of their last four outings, Quinnipiac should have a good opportunity here. I like the Bobcats to bag a cover/win in this one if they can finish above 70 points or so.
