Quinnipiac vs Niagara 12/4/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Niagara Purple Eagles and the Quinnipiac Bobcats meet Sunday in college basketball action from TD Bank Sports Center. Niagara is 3-4 overall this year. The Eagles lost to Iona in their last game. Niagara lost their first two games of the year versus Maryland and Bucknell, then hit a win streak over Central Arkansas, Stetson and D’Youville. The Purple Eagles then took a pair of losses to St. John’s and Iona. 

In the Iona game on Friday, the Eagles were drilled 38-16 in the first half. Niagara kept the pace after halftime but lost 78-56 in a blowout. Aaron Gray led the team on 14 points with six rebounds, and Noah Thomasson added 12 points. 

Over on the Quinnipiac side, they kicked off the year with seven straight wins. Those came courtesy of Rhode Island, Stonehill, Central CT State, Dartmouth, Albertus, Stephen F. Austin and Montana State. 

The Bobcats’ first loss of the year came last Sunday versus Hofstra. Quinnipiac trailed 36-28 by halftime and ended up losing 72-70 despite a second-half comeback. Dezi Jones led the team with his 18 points and six rebounds. 

PICK: I’m going to stay with Quinnipiac. The Bobcats lost a close game against a good Hofstra team in their last outing but they’ve been doing quite well this season. Quinnipiac has scored 67 or more points in seven of their eight games so far and they’re pretty potent on defense in comparable matchups. 

As for Niagara, they were pretty ineffective against Iona in their last game—especially in the first half. The Purple Eagles are a better team than that, and I expect them to hang around for much of the game before Quinnipiac pulls away for the cover.
