The Yale Bulldogs and the Quinnipiac Bobcats meet Monday in college basketball action from TD Bank Sports Center. Yale is 6-5 on the year so far and fresh off a blowout win over Colby-Sawyer. As for Quinnipiac, they’re coming off a close win over Navy which lifted the Bobcats to 7-2 overall. Let’s get into our Yale vs. Quinnipiac prediction. Yale Bulldogs 

The Bulldogs haven’t been able to win more than two consecutive games so far this year—and they’ve only done that once. In a .500 start, Yale fell to Gonzaga, Weber State, Rhode Island, Vermont and Fairfield. In the 75-71 loss to the Stags, the Bulldogs shot 49.1 percent from the field with 34 rebounds. 

Yale had a pretty easy opponent in their last matchup versus Colby-Sawyer. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 42-11 halftime advantage and cruised the rest of the way in a 95-36 blowout victory. Leading the scoring was Matt Knowling with 15 points, four rebounds and one assist. 

Quinnipiac Bobcats 

Over on the Bobcats’ side, they managed a 6-2 run in their first eight outings this year, taking losses to only UMass and Canisius. Quinnipiac otherwise took out Coast Guard, Central Connecticut, Army, Albany, Stonehill and Niagara in that time. The Bobcats held the Purple Eagles to 38.8 percent shooting in the OT victory. 

Quinnipiac was able to keep it going in their latest matchup versus Navy, but this one was close as well. The Bobcats were up 30-23 by the break and had to hang on for the eventual win 71-68. Tops on the team was Matt Balanc with 18 points, six rebounds and three steals in the winning effort. 

ANDREW’S FREE YALE VS QUINNIPIAC PREDICTION 

I’ll stick with Quinnipiac. The Bobcats didn’t play very well versus a struggling Navy team in their last outing but everything worked out in the end. Quinnipiac shot just 31.5 percent from the field in that one, however the 40-33 rebounding edge helped immensely. That makes 71 or more points in five straight games for the Bobcats. 

As for Yale, they’ve scored pretty well lately themselves with 71 or more points in five of their last six outings. The Bulldogs are also giving up a lot of points to decent teams though, so Quinnipiac should have some opportunities in this one.
