Rhode Island vs Illinois State 11/23/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Illinois State Redbirds and the Rhode Island Rams meet Wednesday in college basketball action from John Gray Gymnasium. Illinois State is 2-4 overall this year following their Tuesday loss to Western Kentucky. As for Rhode Island, they lost to Tulane in their Tuesday game. Illinois State kicked off the year with a 71-68 loss to Western Illinois, but bounced back in the next pair with wins over Eastern Illinois and Northwestern State. The net two games were losses to Northwestern State and LSU. 

In Tuesday’s game versus Western Kentucky, Illinois State took another loss. The Redbirds were trailing by just three at the break but ended up with a 78-66 defeat. Tops in scoring was Seneca Knight with 18 points and eight boards. 

Over on the Rhode Island side, they took a pair of losses right out of the gate this year, falling to Quinnipiac 67-62 and Texas State 70-66. The Rams beat Stony Brook in game three, but then fell to Kansas State 77-57 on Monday. 

In the Tuesday matchup against Tulane, Rhode Island trailed 38-29 after one half. The Rams played better in the second but still lost 78-75. Ishmael Leggett led the team on 34 points and four assists with five rebounds. 

PICK: I’m going to stick with Rhode Island. The Rams didn’t have a good first half in Tuesday’s game versus Tulane. That said, Rhode Island ended up shooting a solid 44.3 percent from the field and out-rebounded Tulane 40-24. 

As for Illinois State, they shot a sketchy 38.2 percent from the field and were out-rebounded 34-30 in the Western Kentucky loss. The Redbirds have failed to hit 70 points in every game so far this season, so it’s hard to take them on a cover.
