UTSA Roadrunners
The Roadrunners kicked off their campaign on a 7-11 run across 18 games. In the eight outings since, UTSA has fallen to Rice, Florida Atlantic, FIU, North Texas, LA Tech, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee and UTEP in succession.
In the UTEP matchup, the Roadrunners were outscored 36-30 in the first half. UTSA didn’t get any closer on a 41-36 second-half run and lost 77-66. Topping the team was Japhet Medor with 20 points and four assists.
Rice Owls
Over on the Rice side, they managed to go a decent 13-5 over their first 18 games. The Owls are just 3-4 since then however. The losses in that time came to UAB, Louisiana Tech, North Texas and Florida Atlantic.
In the Florida International matchup on Saturday, the Owls held on to a 41-40 edge in the locker room. Rice posted a 44-38 run in the second half and took the win 85-78. Quincy Olivari was the leading scorer on 28 points and nine rebounds.

I’ll stay with Rice in this one. The Owls had a pretty sketchy four-game losing streak going recently but they were able to rebound with a solid road win over FIU back on Saturday. Rice has scored 72 or more points in three of their last four games. When these teams last saw each other back on January 16 at UTSA Convocation Center, Rice managed an 88-81 overtime win thanks to a 40-27 second half. The Roadrunners haven’t won a game since way back on January 5 (11 games) so it’s hard to imagine they’ll muster much resistance on the road here.
