Dayton got off to a sketchy 1-3 start this year, but they’ve been able to avoid losing consecutive games since then. The Flyers had a five-game win streak going recently, but took a tough road loss in their last outing versus La Salle.
Matched up against La Salle on Saturday, the Flyers were up 30-19 at the break. Dayton was outscored 30-43 in the second for a 62-60 loss. DaRon Holmes managed a double-double on 18 points with 12 rebounds.
Over on the Richmond side, their year began at just 3-4 overall. The Spiders also had a 1-3 stretch in December/January but otherwise have done quite well. Richmond has managed wins over George Washington and St. Louis in their last pair.
In the Saint Louis game on Friday, the Spiders were outscored 33-43 in the first half. Richmond hit a 35-23 stretch in the second for a nice 68-66 comeback victory. Tyler Burton led the team on his 23 points and 10 rebounds.
The Spiders are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 at home and 5-0 ATS in the last five Tuesday games. Richmond is 0-4 ATS in their last four after a straight-up win.
Meanwhile, the Flyers are 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall and 4-9 ATS in the last 13 Tuesday games. The over is 6-2 in Dayton’s last eight overall.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Dayton. The Flyers had a rough first half in their last game versus La Salle, but outside of that they’re on a nice run over the last six games. Dayton has scored 74 or more points in four of those six, and they’ve won eight of their last 10 games.
As for Richmond, they’ve had a few close losses (and one big loss) this calendar year so they should be able to keep the pace in this one. I imagine this matchup will be tight, but I think Dayton can power out the cover/win.
