Rider vs Fairfield Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/10/23

The Fairfield Stags and the Rider Broncs meet Friday in college basketball action from Rider University Alumni Gym. Fairfield comes into this one at 10-13 overall so far. The Stags lost to Iona in their last matchup. As for Rider, they’re 13-9 on the year following a win over Manhattan on Sunday. Fairfield Stags 

Fairfield had a rough time at the beginning of the season, going just 6-9 over their first 15 games. The Stags are 4-4 since then with wins over Saint Peter’s, Canisius, Siena and Mount St. Mary’s during that stretch. 

On Sunday versus Iona, Fairfield took a 28-20 deficit into the second half. The Stags scored 41 points from there but ended up losing 70-61. Leading the way in scoring was Supreme Cook with 16 points and four rebounds. 

Rider Broncs

Over on the Rider side, they went a sketchy 7-9 over their first 16 games. The Broncs have won another six straight since then though (seven in total), beating Niagara, Manhattan, Marist, Fairfield, Saint Peter’s and Manhattan. 

In the Manhattan matchup on Sunday, the Broncs were up 35-21 in the locker room. Rider fell behind on a 35-32 deficit from there but still won 67-56. Mervin James (20 points; 12 rebounds) and Ajiri Ogemuno-Johnson (14 points; 11 rebounds) each doubled up. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably stay with Rider in this one. The Broncs are looking pretty good during this seven-game win streak. They’ve hit 65 or more points in each of those outings and 67 or more points in five straight. The last time these teams met up was one of those victories: a 78-69 affair from Leo D. Mahoney Arena. I like Rider to post another big total in this one and power their way to the cover. Fairfield hasn’t hit 70 points in this calendar year yet, so I don’t think they’ll be able to keep the pace.
