Rutgers vs Ohio State 1/15/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights meet Sunday in college basketball action from the RAC. Ohio State is currently 10-6 overall. The Buckeyes lost to Minnesota in their last game on Thursday. As for Rutgers, they’re sitting at 12-5 so far following a win over Northwestern back on Wednesday. Ohio State managed a 9-3 run through their first 12 with losses to San Diego State, Duke and North Carolina. The Buckeyes are 1-3 since then with losses to Purdue, Maryland and Minnesota after a win over Northwestern. 

Matched up against Minnesota back on Thursday, the Buckeyes were within two points at 37-35 by halftime. Ohio State didn’t end up getting any closer and lost the game 70-67. Brice Sensabaugh led the way on 18 points with 10 rebounds. 

Over on the Rutgers side, they went 8-4 over their first 12 outings with losses to Temple, Miami-FL, Ohio State and Seton Hall. The Knights then hit a 4-1 run with wins over Coppin State, Purdue, Maryland and Northwestern. 

In the Northwestern game, the Knights were up 29-24 at the break. Rutgers fell behind 38-36 in the second but held on for the 65-62 win. Cam Spencer was tops on the team with 23 points and four rebounds. 

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Rutgers. These teams met up back on December 8 at Value City Arena. The Buckeyes won a close game there 67-66. Rutgers shot very well (51.8 percent) but coughed up 13 turnovers and got out-rebounded 35-27 (13-6 offensive). The Knights have been playing quite well since then; they’re currently on a 6-1 run featuring a win over Purdue. I like Rutgers to get some revenge in this one; it should be a very competitive and entertaining matchup regardless, though.
