The Idaho Vandals and the Sacramento State Hornets meet Saturday in college basketball action from Hornet Gym. Idaho is coming off a Thursday matchup versus Portland State. The Vandals ended up losing by three points. As for Sacramento State, they’re fresh off a game against Eastern Washington. In that one the Hornets took a 19-point defeat. Idaho Vandals
Idaho managed to go 6-10 over their first 16 games to start the year on a sketchy run. The Vandals went just 2-5 over their next seven games, losing to Portland State, Eastern Washington, Northern Colorado, Weber State and Idaho State in that time.
On Thursday versus Portland State, the Vandals carved out a 35-33 lead going into halftime. Idaho was outscored 36-31 in the second half however and lost 69-66. Isaac Jones was the top scorer on the team with 30 points and 11 rebounds.
Sacramento State Hornets
Over on the Sacramento State side, they were pretty sketchy through 16 games themselves with a 9-7 result. The Hornets would go 3-3 over the next half-dozen outings, taking wins over Northern Colorado, Northern Arizona and Montana.
Matched up against Eastern Washington on Thursday, the Hornets were up by one point going into the second half. Sacramento State was drilled 48-28 in the second half and lost 82-63. Callum McRae managed a team-high 16 points in the defeat.

I’ll probably stay with Sacramento State. I’m also probably not touching this one. The Hornets are currently on a 1-4 stretch, and they’ve been at 65 points or below in five of their last six games. That said, Sacramento State should be in control here. The Hornets managed to power out an 85-83 overtime victory the last time these teams met back on January 5 at ICCU Arena. Idaho is on a four-game losing streak themselves but they should be competitive here. I like the Hornets to eke out a close cover but I’m not going near it.
