Central CT State has just two wins versus Dartmouth and Manhattan so far. Otherwise it’s been losses to UMass, Quinnipiac, St. John’s, Lafayette, UMBC, Maine, Rutgers, Brown, Holy Cross, Fordham and Army.
In the Army matchup on Tuesday, the Blue Devils were outscored 38-30 in the first half and 28-25 in the second for a 66-55 defeat. Kellen Amos led the way on 18 points and Jay Rodgers added 14 points with three rebounds.
Over on the St. Joseph’s side, they’ve got wins over Lafayette, Albany, Penn, Saint Peter’s and Sacred Heart this year. The losses have come versus Houston, Georgia, South Florida, Fairleigh Dickinson, Temple and Villanova.
Matched up against Sacred Heart on Monday, the Hawks jumped out to a 35-18 lead by halftime. Saint Joseph’s cruised from there in a 77-59 win. Cameron Brown was able to double up on 19 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Saint Joseph’s. The Hawks did a nice job taking care of Sacred Heart in their last game. Saint Joseph’s had five different players with nine points or more in a solid all-around effort. When the matchup is right, the Hawks can score pretty well. They’ve hit 73 or more points in four of their last six outings and should post a nice total in this one as well. As for Central CT State, they recently had consecutive games with 77 points or more, however on the whole the Blue Devils haven’t been great offensively. I don’t think they’ll get out of the 60s here either.
