The George Mason Patriots and the St. Joseph’s Hawks meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Hagan Arena. George Mason is sitting at 12-11 overall this year. The Patriots lost to VCU in their last game. As for St. Joseph’s, they’re currently 10-13 and fell to UMass in their last game. George Mason went 7-5 to start off the year, then were only able to play one game (a loss) from December 21 to January 17. The Patriots have been on a 1-4 run in their last five, falling to Saint Louis, La Salle, Richmond and VCU in that time.
In the VCU game on Saturday, the Patriots were outscored 30-40 in the first half and 40-45 from there in an 85-70 loss. Josh Oduro managed 18 points with nine rebounds in the loss, and Davonte Gaines added 16 points.
Over on the St. Joseph’s side, they’ve had quite the choppy year as they fight with a .500 record. The Hawks are just 1-3 in the last four. They’ve got a win over Fordham mixed with losses to St. Bonaventure, Davidson and UMass in that time.
In the UMass matchup back on Saturday, the Hawks were outscored by one point in both quarters. The result was a tough 69-67 defeat. Leading team scorer Cameron Brown put up 15 points, and Jordan Hall added 13 points with seven assists.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on George Mason here. The Patriots’ current 1-4 run looks pretty sketchy, but the team has remained competitive against some tricky teams in that time. Three of George Mason’s last four losses have each come by five points or fewer.
The last time these teams met up on January 24, the Patriots managed a 77-71 win at home. If George Mason can get off to a good start here I think they’ll be okay on a potential cover.
