Saint Joseph’s vs Richmond Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 3/1/23

The Richmond Spiders and the St. Joseph’s Hawks meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Hagan Arena. Richmond enters this one at 14-15 overall. The Spiders lost to VCU in their last game. Richmond Spiders 

Richmond got through their first 22 games on a .500 clip, hitting an 11-11 record. The Spiders are 3-4 in their last seven outings with losses to St. Bonaventure, George Washington, La Salle and VCU alongside wins over Fordham, Loyola IL and Saint Louis. 

Matched up against VCU on Friday, the Spiders were down 37-23 going into the second half. Richmond was outscored 36-35 from there in a 73-58 defeat. Neal Quinn put up 21 points with six rebounds in 28 minutes during the loss. 

St. Joseph’s Hawks 

Over on the Saint Joseph’s side, they managed an 11-11 run through their first 22 outings as well. The Hawks are just 2-5 in their last seven however, taking losses to La Salle, Duquesne, Davidson, VCU and St. Bonaventure during that time. 

In the St. Bonaventure game on Sunday, the Hawks were down 48-38 in the first half. Saint Joseph’s didn’t get any closer on a 41-38 second half and lost 89-76. Erik Reynolds posted 33 points to top the team, and Lynn Greer added 21 points. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll stick with Richmond in this one. You could probably make a case either way, though; it should be a decent matchup. That said, Richmond didn’t play very well against a pretty good VCU team in their last outing. The Spiders’ previous three losses were each decided by six points or fewer however, so they’ve been competitive. As for Saint Joseph’s, they’ve been scoring pretty well with 75 or more points in four of their last six games. The Hawks are a rough 2-4 in that time however, so Richmond should have plenty of opportunities to put up points here.
