The Dayton Flyers will travel to Chaifetz Arena to take on the Saint Louis Billikens this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The Dayton Flyers won their 3rd straight game and improved to 15-7 on the season after defeating the VCU Rams, 82-52, this past Wednesday. Dayton dominated VCU on both ends of the court throughout the game and had no trouble picking up the victory after taking a 66-44 lead with 8:16 left in regulation. Dayton shot 52.4% from the field & 46.7% from beyond the arc while allowing VCU to shoot 40.9% from the field & 18.2% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Flyers was DaRon Holmes II who had 21 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, & 1 steal.

On the season, Dayton is averaging 68.6 ppg on 47.1% shooting from the field. The Flyers are averaging 6.4 three-pointers per game on 34.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Dayton has been led by DaRon Holmes II (12.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.2 apg, 2.6 bpg), Toumani Camara (10.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.9 apg), Malachi Smith (9.7 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 4.8 apg, 1.9 spg), & Kobe Elvis (8.3 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 1.9 apg).

Defensively, Dayton is holding their opponents to an average of 60.3 ppg on 41.0% shooting from the field. The Flyers have a rebound margin of 7.3 and a turnover margin of -1.6.

The Saint Louis Billikens won their 4th straight game and improved to 15-6 on the season after defeating the George Mason Patriots, 92-90 (2OT), this past Wednesday. Saint Louis allowed George Mason to fight back from a 73-62 deficit with just 4:08 left in regulation to force OT, however, the Billikens were able to pull off the victory after Yuri Collins hit a game-winning lay-up wit just :01 seconds left in double-OT. Saint Louis shot 40.3% from the field & 36.7% from beyond the arc while allowing George Mason to shoot 45.6% from the field & 42.9% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Billikens was Yuri Collins who had a double-double with 35 points, 5 rebounds, 13 assists, & 5 steals.

On the season, Saint Louis is averaging 80.0 ppg on 45.7% shooting from the field. The Billikens are averaging 7.0 three-pointers per game on 36.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Saint Louis has been led by Gibson Jimerson (17.6 ppg, 2.0 rpg), Yuri Collins (11.4 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 8.6 apg, 2.2 spg), Francis Okoro (10.0 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1.3 bpg), & Jordan Nesbitt (9.7 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.0 spg).

Defensively, Saint Louis is allowing their opponents to average 67.9 ppg on 41.1% shooting from the field. The Billikens have a rebound margin of 6.7 and a turnover margin of 1.5.

The Flyers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up win of more than 20 points & 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS win. The Billikens are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring more than 90 points in their previous game & 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games.

Dayton is coming off one of the more impressive victories of the season against VCU, however, I just don’t see the Dayton offense, which ranks just 248th in scoring offense & 273rd in three-pointer made per game, having similar success against Saint Louis on the road. Saint Louis lost at Dayton by a 68-63 margin earlier this season, however, between the fact that the Billikens are 10-3 at home and have an offense (21st in scoring offense; 95th in FG%) that should have some success at home against the Dayton defense, I’m going to take Saint Louis to cover this small home spread. Good Luck!
