Saint Louis vs Drake 12/17/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Drake Bulldogs and the Saint Louis Billikens meet Saturday in college basketball action from Chaifetz Arena. Drake is 8-2 overall this year. The Bulldogs lost to Richmond in their last game. Drake went 6-0 over their first half-dozen games this year, beating IUPUI, Wofford, Buffalo, Wyoming, Tarleton State and Louisiana. Since then it’s been a 2-2 run with losses to Indiana State and Richmond. 

In the Richmond game last weekend, the Bulldogs trailed 47-25 by halftime. Drake couldn’t close the deficit in the second half and ended up losing 82-52. Leading team scorer Shardaar Calhoun put up 17 points. 

Over on the Saint Louis side, they went 5-2 over their first seven games with wins over Murray State, Evansville, Memphis, Providence and Paul Quinn. The Billikens won consecutive games then fell to Iona and Boise State. 

Matched up against Boise State last Saturday, the Billikens took a three-point lead into halftime. Saint Louis was outpaced 34-26 from there in a 57-52 loss. Yuri Collins led the way on 17 points with four boards. 

PICK: I’ll probably stay with Drake. That’s assuming the Bulldogs can bounce back from their ugly performance versus Richmond last weekend, however. Drake had been on a nice scoring run since then, hitting 71 or more points in five straight games. The Bulldogs are generally a solid offensive team so far this season and I can see them posting a big total here as well. Saint Louis has posted just 114 points combined over their last pair. The Billikens will need a proverbial spark on offense but I think they’ll do well on the scoreboard also.
