The Maryland Terrapins and the Saint Louis Billikens meet Saturday in college basketball action from Mohegan Sun Arena. Maryland is 3-0 on the year and fresh off a Tuesday victory over Binghamton. As for Saint Louis, they’re sitting at 3-0 as well. The Billikens beat Memphis in their last game. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Maryland opened up their season with a matchup versus Niagara. The Terrapins didn’t have a ton of trouble in that one and took a win 71-49. In game two versus Western Carolina last Thursday, Maryland notched another victory, this time 71-51.
In Tuesday’s matchup versus Binghamton, Maryland got off to a 44-23 lead by halftime. The Terrapins kept the pressure on in the second half and took a victory 76-52. Julian Reese led the team with his 19 points and seven rebounds.
Over on the Saint Louis side, their opener versus Murray State went well. The Billikens scored 47 points in the second half there, and took a 91-68 win. Saint Louis would continue to roll in game two versus Evansville with an 83-65 win.
Back on Tuesday versus Memphis, Saint Louis had their toughest matchup of the year so far. The Billikens held a 47-43 edge by the break, then scored 43 more points during a 90-84 victory. Yuri Collins led the team on his 22 points and nine assists.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Saint Louis. The Billikens have done a great job so far this year, and were able to fend off a decent Memphis team in their last game. Saint Louis shot 46.7 percent from the floor in that one with 27-of-36 (75 percent) of free throws made. As for Maryland, they’re looking pretty darn good this year so far themselves but they haven’t really been challenged yet. This will probably be the Terrapins’ most difficult matchup yet, and I like the Billikens to get a cover in there.
